Parents move in with adult children
You're not alone. Millions of Gen-Xer's are navigating the emotional, logistical, and financial challenges of caring for aging parents—often from another state. We’ve been there, too.
That’s why we created Your Parent Porter, a trusted service that connects you with vetted, local professionals who can check in on your parents, their home, and their well-being. We act as your eyes and ears to give you peace of mind for those still living independently at home. Inspired by the founder’s own experience managing long-distance support for her parents, the company bridges a critical gap: providing trustworthy, boots-on-the-ground reassurance—without crossing into caregiving or home management.
We are trained to observe, report, and offer thoughtful local insights. They do not perform repairs, manage vendors, or schedule services. Instead, they deliver consistent, trusted guidance that helps families make informed decisions while preserving their loved one’s autonomy.
With aging parents increasingly choosing to stay in their homes and adult children often living out of state, Your Parent Porter provides the peace of mind that comes from knowing someone reliable is close by, keeping an eye on the things that matter.

Keeping parents in their homes longer
As vetted professionals embedded in the community, we offer reliable, relationship-based insight without the pressure of upsells or caregiving responsibilities. Their visits empower families to make proactive, informed decisions—before a crisis hits.
Not salespeople—care-minded pros who act as your eyes and ears giving peace of mind to families
Your Parent Porter helps families support aging parents who are living independently at home—especially when distance makes it hard to stay consistently informed. Our core service provides an initial home discovery report giving the family an overall condition and safety evaluation. Then through a subscription based service, we continue to check-in and conduct scheduled home and wellness visits and deliver timely, thoughtful reports and insights.
Professional observations on the condition and safety of the home
Social and emotional cues around well-being
Non-medical insights that help families make informed decisions
Referrals to vetted local vendors if a concern arises
When families don’t live nearby, they often miss the cues that something’s off. Our service bridges that gap without compromising independence or privacy.

I’m a Gen X founder who worried about her parents for many years from another state. I was in a constant state of anxiety of if something ever happened, I would probably need to move back home to take care of them. I also lived in fear of getting the dreadful phone call that someone had passed. And unfortunately, I experienced both of these things and my biggest fears came true.
I created this service because there are things I wish I would've known before their untimely passing. I couldn’t imagine how I would’ve known what was going on at home without the help of my brother and family, but they don't always tell you what is "really" going on. It would’ve been nice to have an outside unbiased perspective and just maybe we could've helped prevent some of the pain we all had to experience during that difficult time and moments leading up to that.
I found talking to many other Gen X kids, they have not had conversations or prepared for the inevitable. (sorry to remind you, but NONE of us make it out of here alive!). I hope that my experiences and stories are able to help other families be more proactive and provide some ease in this ultimate life transition that changes your life forever.
